Mercredi 8 novembre 2017 : Séminaire Prof David Fletcher (Campus INP-ENSIACET)

- Titre : "Application of CFD to the Design and Modelling of Industrial Bubble Columns"
- Intervenant : David F. Fletcher : School of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering The University of Sydney
- Résumé :

  • Bubble columns are used extensively in the food, pharmaceutical and minerals industries to provide good mixing and high mass transfer rates. With ever-growing interest in biofuel and nutraceutical production their use is growing further and the need to have models to help in the design of such devices and interpretation of experimental results is essential.
  • Here we will discuss the progress made over the last 5 years as we have performed both experimental and CFD studies of these devices. The focus will be on the CFD modelling, using an Eulerian multiphase approach but we will compare with experimental data at all stages of the process. Our aim is to develop as computationally efficient model as possible that will do the job to an industrial level of accuracy.
  • Thoughts on what needs to be done and how reliable the models currently are will be shared.
