Project Outcomes

The thorough characterisation of transport phenomena in Taylor flow in micro reactors through the objectives presented above will allow a fundamental understanding of the interaction between the physical phenomena that control the process operation and the specificities of equipment design. Ultimately the project will enable the development of correlations and design rules for the operation of gas-liquid micro and microstructured reactors. These will contribute to the development of engineering methodologies that tell us how, when and where to implement micro and microstructured reactors in existing conventional processes. Such methodologies for micro reactors are still rare or inexistent due to the relatively early age of micro reaction technology for process engineering applications.
